Please call to order your repeat prescriptions for both food and medicines, giving 48 hours notice. In accordance with The Royal Veterinary College recommendations, there is a legal requirement to re-examine all pets receiving prescription medicines on a regular basis to assess progress. This is at least 6 monthly, but can be 3 monthly dependant on the medicine involved.
You are welcome to obtain relevant veterinary medicinal products either form ourselves OR ask for a written prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy, the provision of which is chargeable. The vet may prescribe relevant veterinary medicinal products only following a clinical assessment of an animal under his or her care.
A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary. But you will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be prescribed.
The general policy of this practice is to re-assess an animal, requiring repeat prescriptions, for the supply of relevant veterinary medicinal products every 6 months, but this may vary with individual circumstances. The charge for a medication check for repeat prescriptions are available upon request.
If required, larger print on medication labels is available on request. Also, if you would like it in a different format, please ask your Vet or another member of staff.
