Puppy Parties

Puppy Parties

Getting a new puppy is incredibly exciting, but a huge commitment. The first 16 weeks of a puppy's life are the most vital for learning and experiencing as much a possible. It has been shown that what the puppy encounters during this period they will generally accept without fear for the rest of their life, so good experiences meeting many people and exposure to as many sights and sounds as possible is very important and the time goes extremely fast.

From the age of 16 weeks the puppy progresses from the curious learning stage to just coping, after this time a puppy can become fearful of new and unexpected noises and objects, also possibly people and other dogs. This, if not addressed, can result in unsettled, anxious and even aggressive dogs.

The objectives of our puppy parties are all to alleviate the potential fear of visiting the vets, socialising puppies with each other, the practice staff, and imparting as much information as possible to ensure happy and informed ownership.

The parties are held at our Shefford branch by a minimum of two of our staff members, at least one of whom will be a qualified nurse. They are held weekly on Wednesdays evening at 6:30pm. They consist of a course of three weeks.

Each night the puppies will be given plenty of time to socialise both with each other and with our staff. Different topics will be covered each week; these will include parasite control, feeding advice, first aid, training and handling, the benefits of our VIP members club, microchipping and insurance.
